Kennedy Ryan is having a Hollywood moment as Netflix lands her ‘Hoops’ romance series

Kennedy Ryan‘s Skyland series is already getting a series on Peacock beginning with “Before I Let Go.” Now, the books in her sports romance series have landed a deal at Netflix.
According to Deadline, the popular streamer won an intense bidding war for the project, which consists of three of Ryan’s books, “Long Shot,” “Block Shot,” and “Hook Shot,” which were all released between 2018 and 2019. Each follows the trials, tribulations and romance of multiple individuals tied to the NBA, exploring topics such as personal healing, abusive relationships and “intense second-chance love stories.”
Fans quickly pounced on the news on social media with glee.
“Netflix better do right by this,” one fan wrote on Threads.

Ryan will serve as an executive producer on the project, and Adrian Dukes will also serve as a writer and executive producer. Dukes previously served as a co-executive producer for the hit CW series “All American” and Tyler Perry’s “Assisted Living.” Will Packer and Sabrina Wind of Will Packer Media are attached as executive producers, along with Tracey Baker-Simmons, retired NBA star Chris Paul, CJ Paul and Jacqueline Taylor for Paul’s Ohh Dip!!!! Entertainment.
The acclaimed author is having a season to remember. Earlier this year, her Hollywood Renaissance book “Score” became an immediate New York Times bestseller. Earlier this month, the first book in her Skyland series, “Before I Let Go,” was ordered to series at Peacock with Malcolm D. Lee of “The Best Man” fame serving as a co-creator. “From Scratch” co-creators Attica Locke and Tembi Locke are attached to “Before I Let Go” as showrunners and writers, while John Legend, Mike Jackson, and Debra Martin Chase will executive produce the series.
