White is the first defendant convicted in the 2020 killing of the Dallas rapper, while Yella Beezy and another man still await trial.

Kewon White, the man prosecutors say Yella Beezy hired to kill Dallas rapper MO3, has been convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The conviction comes more than five years after MO3’s fatal Dallas highway shooting and months after Yella Beezy was charged with capital murder in the case.

A Dallas County jury found White, 27, guilty Friday, Sept. 4, after a two-week trial, according to People reports. White had entered a not guilty plea. Because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, life without the possibility of parole was the mandatory sentence following his capital murder conviction.

MO3, whose real name was Melvin Noble, was 28 when he was killed on Nov. 11, 2020. Authorities said the rapper was approached on Interstate 35E in Dallas, when he got out of his vehicle and ran before the gunman chased him and opened fire. MO3 was reportedly shot 13 times.

Prosecutors alleged White was paid by Yella Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, to carry out the killing. Conway and MO3 allegedly had a long-running feud dating back to 2017.

White’s defense argued that prosecutors had failed to prove the killing was a murder-for-hire scheme. The jury nevertheless returned a capital murder verdict after roughly three hours of deliberation.

During sentencing, MO3’s mother, Nichole Noble, addressed White in an emotional victim impact statement. She told him she loved him and suggested that love may have been something he had been searching for. White reportedly lowered his head and cried as she spoke.

White is the first person to stand trial in connection with MO3’s killing. Conway and Devin Brown have also been charged with capital murder and are awaiting trial. Conway has entered a not guilty plea and denied involvement in the killing.
