Key defender out vs UCLA, first Purdue football injury report shows

Purdue football was without a pair of starters in its loss to Wake Forest, and that likely will remain the case when the Boilermakers face UCLA at 11 p.m. Saturday at Rose Bowl Stadium.

However, one starter who had to exit the loss to Wake Forest does not appear on Purdue's first injury report of the season.

Left guard Brock Brownfield left last week's game in the first quarter and was replaced by Marques Easley, but is not among the five players Purdue listed on its first injury report ahead of the game.

Defensive back Mister Clark, who started Purdue's opener against Indiana State, is listed as out. He did not play against Wake Forest. Tight end Kylan Fox and defensive back Raderrion Daniels, who coach Barry Odom previously stated are out for the season, also are listed with Clark.

Joey Tanona, who started all 12 games at left tackle last season, continues to nurse a left ankle injury from early in training camp. Tanona was slated to be working his way back ahead of the Sept. 4 game against Indiana State. He is listed as doubtful for the UCLA game.

Defensive end Elo Modozie, a transfer from Georgia who has played 25 snaps through Purdue's first two games, is questionable as of Wednesday night's injury report.

Injury report protocols were changed for Big Ten play this season. Big Ten teams are only required to submit injury reports ahead of conference games. In past seasons, there would be one report submitted two hours prior to kickoff. This season, the Big Ten requires teams to submit four separate reports prior to a conference contest, at 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and then two hours prior to Saturday's kickoff.
