Key running back target projected to FSU

The FSU Seminoles do not currently have a running back or wide receiver committed in their 2027 recruiting class. In fact, their only offensive commits are three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty and three-star tight end Connor Winn.
That is something that the coaching staff is working to change, and they could do that soon. Key running back target Marquis Fennell officially visited over the weekend, and they have appeared to surge ahead in his recruitment. Brenden Sonnone of Noles247 has placed a crystal ball in for FSU to land Fennell, who is from Valdosta, Georgia.
While FSU might be the favorite, they have plenty of competetion for the three-star back. He has already officially visited the Colorado Buffaloes and Stanford Orange and will officially visit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this weekend. That will be his last visit before he commits on June 25.
Fennell is ranked as the No. 612 overall player and No. 46 athlete in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 76 player from Georgia.
Part of the reason that FSU wants Fennell so bad is his versatility. Not only can he play runing back, but he has excellent receiving traits and can be used in the slot, something head coach Mike Norvell loves to do with his running backs.
Fennell had a phenomenal junior season at Valdosta High School, helping them go 12-2 and being named the 6A Region 1 Player of the Year. He ran for 1,480 yards and 23 touchdowns on 181 attempts, averaging 8.2 yards per carry. He also caught 53 passes for 764 yards and 10 more touchdowns.
