Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has long standing ties to the Alabama Crimson Tide from being a defensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide where he won four national titles in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Since arriving at Georgia as a head coach, Smart has won two national titles back to back in 2021 and 2022.

Smart has battled with Alabama nearly every year since his arrival back to Athens and typically each time Georgia and Alabama meet, its typically a treat for fans to watch. These have been the top two SEC programs for the better part of the past decade sharing SEC titles and meeting in SEC championship and national championship games on multiple occasions. This weekend shall be no different considering the fact that both programs look tremendously strong heading into this contest.

Alabama is coming off of a huge win against Mississippi State 56-23. The Crimson Tide have been dominant in the past couple of weeks knocking off South Carolina just the week before by a final score of 49-18.

Georgia has obviously been dominant but haven't faced the tougher schedule early on like Alabama has. Georgia did route Oklahoma with ease a couple of weeks ago by a final score of 41-13. This will certainly be the biggest test for both Georgia and Alabama so far this season.

Kirby Smart's overall record against Alabama as head coach is 2-7. Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs have the last victory in this matchup dating back to last season's SEC championship game with a 28-7 final. Each and every matchup has typically close with a lot on the line in six of the last 10 matches being a championship game. Four were SEC championship games with Alabama leading that series 3-1. Two were national championship games with that series being tied at 1-1.

The Georgia Bulldogs will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide this Saturday, October 10, 2026. Kickoff will take place at 7:30 p.m. ET.
