Michigan is going to lose a quarterback to the transfer portal when it opens on Friday.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Michigan quarterback Davis Warren is planning to enter the transfer portal. He is expected to have two seasons of eligibility remaining after missing the entire 2025 season due to a knee injury. He is expected to get a medical redshirt.
Warren last appeared in a game for Michigan during the 2024 season. He played in nine games that season, finishing with 1,199 yards through the air, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Now that Warren is back healthy, he’ll be looking for playing time during the 2026 season.
Michigan has a new head coach now after finalizing the hire of Kyle Whittingham from Utah on Friday. He agreed to a five-year deal to be the school’s head coach and will replace Sherrone Moore, who was fired for cause.
Whittingham was the head coach at Utah for 21 seasons, compiling a 177-88 record. He was set to step down as Utah’s head coach until Michigan came calling.
His best season at Utah came in 2008, when he led the program to a perfect 13-0 record and a Sugar Bowl win over Alabama.
Michigan went 9-3 during the 2025 regular season and will try to finish the year with 10 wins on Dec. 31 against Texas in the Citrus Bowl.
Kickoff will be at 3 p.m. ET.
