Kyle Whittingham's Wife Makes Important Pledge To Michigan Fans

The wife of longtime college football head coach Kyle Whittingham is making it clear to Michigan fans following the Sherrone Moore drama: the same will not happen with us.

Michigan fired second-year head coach Sherrone Moore following an investigation that found he had an "inappropriate" relationship with a female staff member. Moore was later arrested, after making threats following his firing. He was ultimately arrested on criminal trespassing and stalking charges.

The Wolverines underwent a national search for a new head coach, ultimately hiring former Utah Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham. The longtime head coach had stepped down from Utah following the 2025 regular season.

The Wolverines officially announced the hiring of Kyle Whittingham earlier this week.

"We are honored to lead the outstanding student-athletes, coaches, and staff who represent Michigan Football each day," said Whittingham. "Michigan is synonymous with tradition and excellence — both on the field and beyond — and our entire program is committed to upholding those values while striving for greatness together. My family and I are thrilled to join the University of Michigan community, and we look forward to helping our players grow, develop, and reach their highest potential — on the gridiron, in the classroom, and as leaders. It's a privilege to be part of something that inspires pride in every Wolverine fan. Go Blue!"

Whittingham's wife makes important pledge

Whittingham's wife, Jamie, is making things clear: drama will not follow this couple in Ann Arbor. She is in Ann Arbor to support her husband and the Michigan program.

"I haven't done anything personally," Jamie previously told the Salt Lake CIty Deseret News. "I'm just supportive of Kyle."

The couple first met when they were 14 years old. They began dating in high school and have been together ever since.

Kyle and Jamie recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. This is the kind of couple that can inspire everyone else.

"Happy 41st Anniversary!! You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me! You’re the love of my life!!" she pledged.

Michigan president Domenico Grasso is excited to welcome the couple to Ann Arbor, too.

"After speaking with Coach Whittingham and reviewing his record both on and off the field, I am confident he will bring dignity, integrity, and fierce competitiveness to the program, while serving as a powerful role model for our student-athletes and staff," he said. "He also places a strong emphasis on the academic mission of college athletics, reflected in a 93 percent graduation rate, among the highest in the college football power conferences. Coach Whittingham is exactly the right fit for the University of Michigan at this time."

It's an exciting time in Ann Arbor.
