Seven players from Bucks County and Eastern Montgomery, including five La Salle standouts, were selected to the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ All-State Teams announced Wednesday.
La Salle senior quarterback Gavin Sidwar and receiver/defensive back Joey O’Brien earned repeat recognition for the PIAA Class 6A state champion Explorers, with Sidwar chosen player of the year. La Salle senior offensive tackle Grayson McKeough, sophomore receiver Owen Johnson and senior linebacker JP Oates made the team for the first time.
Second-year La Salle head coach Brett Gordon was tabbed 6A coach of the year.
In Class 2A, Lansdale Catholic senior quarterback Boa Cobbold and Crusaders junior lineman Terrance Smith were selected.
The 6-3, 193-pound Sidwar passed for 3,374 yards and 40 touchdowns in 2025, giving him 9,211 passing yards and 108 passing TDs during his four-year high school career. All of those are La Salle school records. The Warrington resident is going to Missouri.
The PA Gatorade Player of the Year, O’Brien accumulated 85 catches for 1,250 yards and 18 touchdowns, in addition to making 49 tackles. He had three interceptions, one of which he returned 95 yards for a score, in the fourth quarter of the 34-20 state title game win over Pittsburgh Central Catholic.
A Notre Dame commit, the 6-foot-5, 193-pound O’Brien is a two-time Philadelphia Catholic League Red Division MVP.
Another Notre Dame commit, the 6-8, 285-pound McKeough anchored 13-1 La Salle’s terrific line that helped the Explorers average 39.1 points per game. McKeough lives in Perkasie.
Johnson, a 5-11, 180-pounder, had 73 catches for 988 yards and a total of 16 touchdowns (13 receiving). He registered three TDs in the state championship game.
Oates, a 6-3, 225-pound James Madison commit, had 32 receptions for 486 yards and six touchdowns as a tight end, in addition to 40 tackles, eight sacks and two fumble recoveries (one for a TD) on defense.
Gordon, a former La Salle star quarterback, went 13-1 in his second season as head coach after a 10-1 mark in 2024. His team defeated perennial power St. Joseph’s Prep twice, including in the Philadelphia Catholic League 6A championship game. He became the second La Salle head coach to win a state title, joining late father Drew Gordon (2009).
An Akron commit, Cobbold went 121-for-198 passing for 1,478 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 1,380 yards on 153 carries with 17 TDs. The 6-2, 186-pounder led LC to a 12-3 record and the PIAA 2A semifinals after taking the District 12 Class 2A title.
The highly recruited Smith missed much of the season while recovering from a torn ACL. Projected on the offensive line at the next level, the 6-6, 271-pounder has offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oregon, LSU and Penn State, among many others.
The Class 5A, 3A and A teams were released on Tuesday, but no Bucks County area players were picked. Also, none made the 4A squad Wednesday.
