If there is any indication of how the atmosphere will be for Saturday night's game between No. 7 LSU and No. 8 Ole Miss, look no further than Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin entering the Rebels' stadium.

Roughly 90 minutes before kickoff, Kiffin returned to his former home stadium for the very first time.

As expected, he was greeted with several boo birds.

The beginning of Kiffin's entrance appeared to be pretty calm, as it looked as if he was walking in between temporary barriers that cleared a path for him. But awaiting him as he went into his locker room were throngs of angry Ole Miss fans who poured in to boo him incessantly:

One of the short film's highlights is Kiffin nonchalantly waving to the few LSU fans who warmly greeted him as boos otheriwse engulfed him

When he made his way into the stadium, the fans who had arrived early continued to boo

Shortly after arriving at the stadium, he had an on-field interview with ESPN's Holly Rowe:

"Well, so it's an exciting day," Kiffin told Rowe. "You know, two great teams, two top 10 teams being able to play each other, electric crowd, great energy around it. I mean, this is what is great. People say college football, but SEC football right here. So, what an exciting day for both programs to be here tonight on this stage."

Rowe asked him what it was like getting off the bus and being greeted by the booing fans. He tried to downplay it, adding that he has played on the road before:

"I mean, we've done this thing before," Kiffin said. "So it's kind of fun, you know. You just embrace it, you go with it, and both teams are here to have a lot of fun tonight, and family have a lot to watch."

Kiffin appeared to be enjoying himself. As he left the field after pre-game warmups, he threw a ball into the Ole Miss crowd:

 Lane Kiffin on College GameDay

Kiffin likely was expecting the reception from Ole Miss fans. When he joined ESPN's "College GameDay" on Saturday morning, he was heavily booed by the Rebel crowd:

Why do Ole Miss fans Lane Kiffin so much?

Lane Kiffin was Ole Miss' head coach from 2020-2025, during what was the longest head coaching tenure of his career. In Oxford he led the Rebels to four double-digit win seasons across his six seasons, as well as a first-ever 11-win regular season last year.

But Kiffin departed Ole Miss dramatically at the end of last season to take the LSU head coaching job. Although he informed the school he was leaving, he wanted to keep coaching the team through its College Football Playoff run.

Ole Miss refused, and instead named Kiffin's defensive coordinator Pete Golding as the team's permanent head coach. Kiffin, who also took several coaches and a few Ole Miss players with him to LSU, went from hero to villain pretty much overnight in Oxford.
