Lane Kiffin calls out Clemson’s offense after LSU’s 51-10 win

Saturday’s Clemson-LSU game was highly anticipated by many college football fans before it quickly turned into a blowout.

LSU jumped out to a 17-3 first-quarter lead before taking a 31-3 lead into halftime. The game was virtually over by that point, but it didn’t stop LSU from adding 20 more points in the second half, winning 51-10.

After the game, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin spoke to ESPN’s David Hale and confirmed that he was surprised by the final score. He also called Clemson’s offense “dysfunctional.”

“I thought it’d be like 35-7, 35-10,” Kiffin said. “I didn’t know they’d be that dysfunctional on offense.”

Clemson’s offensive struggles

It was definitely a night to forget for Clemson’s offense. The unit couldn’t get anything going and got terrible quarterback play from Christopher Vizzinia. He only completed 10 passes for 83 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

The offense will likely bounce back next week against Georgia Southern, but Swinney still needs to make adjustments to make sure it performs better in future big games.

LSU’s running game shines

Meanwhile, LSU’s offense was fantastic, running right through Clemson’s defense. LSU finished the game with 309 rushing yards and 644 total yards of offense.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt compiled 113 of those 309 rushing yards and passed for 230 yards.

LSU will play Louisiana Tech next Saturday before heading to Oxford for Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss on Sept. 19.
