OXFORD — Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin said he has not received an ultimatum or deadline from the university regarding his future.

Kiffin appeared on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Nov. 18. He has generated major interest in the college football coaching carousel. Both Florida and LSU are attempting to hire Kiffin away from Ole Miss, according to media reports.

Kiffin denied reports from Nov. 17 that said he received a hard deadline to decide about his future. Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter wants a decision before the Nov. 28 Egg Bowl vs Mississippi State, according to On3.

“That’s absolutely not true,” Kiffin said. “There’s been no ultimatum. Anything like that at all. I don’t know where that came from, like a lot of stuff that comes out there.”

No. 6 Ole Miss (10-1, 6-1 SEC) is on an open week before playing at Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Black Friday. The Rebels are in good position to make the College Football Playoff for the first time. The next CFP poll comes out on Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Kiffin does hot yoga every morning, and he said on the show he had done hot yoga with Carter the morning on Nov. 18.

What is latest news on Lane Kiffin?

A quick answer from Kiffin about his future would be helpful for Ole Miss, Florida and LSU.

Winning could be Ole Miss’ best path to keeping Kiffin. If the Rebels make the College Football Playoff and Kiffin wants to coach the Rebels, he may not have time to finish out the season in the CFP and also move to another job.

The first round of the CFP is Dec. 19-20. It runs through Jan. 19.

Lane Kiffin invites Pat McAfee to participate in “The Walk” like comedian Theo Von

Kiffin invited another high-profile guest to accompany him and the Ole Miss Rebels in a pregame tradition.

While speaking with McAfee, Kiffin invited him to participate in “The Walk” at an Ole Miss game. Comedian Theo Von accompanied Kiffin on Nov. 15 before Florida. Von and Kiffin are friends. It’s a game day tradition where the team walks through a packed campus and The Grove before entering Vaught-Heminway Stadium.

The Rebels do not have any more home games scheduled in 2025 but may host a College Football Playoff game.
