As you'd imagine, Lane Kiffin started trending on social media as soon as Ole Miss punched its ticket to the national semifinals.
Before the start of the College Football Playoff, the Rebels learned that Kiffin was leaving them behind to coach the LSU Tigers. He reportedly agreed to a seven-year, $91 million contract.
“This was a very challenging, difficult day,” Kiffin told ESPN’s Marty Smith. “We went through a lot last night with Keith Carter trying to figure out a way to make this playoff run work and be able to coach the team. And at the end of the day, that’s his decision and I totally respect that. I understand that decision. I just totally wish the team the best of luck, wish that I was coaching. … I just hope they play really well and go win the national championship.”
Despite losing Kiffin on short notice, Ole Miss dismantled Tulane in the opening round of the CFP to set up a showdown with Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
Although the Rebels were trailing 21-12 at halftime, they made an incredible comeback in the second half thanks to Trinidad Chambliss, Kewan Lacy and Harrison Wallace III.
Lucas Carneiro then sent Ole Miss to the semifinals by making a 47-yard field goal with six seconds remaining.
After the Sugar Bowl went final, fans started wondering how Kiffin feels about his former team reaching the semifinals.
"Lane Kiffin gotta be sick right now," one fan said.
"Money aside Lane Kiffin has to be sick right now," a second fan wrote.
"Lane Kiffin would never admit it but he’s sick to his stomach," a third fan declared.
"I just know Lane Kiffin is sick seeing this," another fan commented.

As part of LSU's agreement with Kiffin, the school agreed to pay his bonuses for the CFP. He received $250,000 once Ole Miss reached the quarterfinals.
Since Ole Miss defeated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, Kiffin received another $250,000 bonus. Suffice to say, his bank account will be happy about Thursday's result.
Kiffin can earn up to $1 million if Ole Miss wins the national championship. First things first though, his former team will take on Miami in the Fiesta Bowl.
Ole Miss and Miami will kick off next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
