Lane Kiffin Might’ve Been Right About Ole Miss

Lane Kiffin just couldn’t leave Ole Miss alone.

After LSU’s 32-24 loss in Oxford, Kiffin referred to the emotional matchup against his former program as Ole Miss’ “Super Bowl.” The comment came after the Rebels handed Kiffin a loss in his highly anticipated return to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

And then Ole Miss went to Florida.

The Rebels were absolutely hammered 52-28, allowing 302 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns as Florida controlled the game from start to finish.

So maybe Kiffin had a point?

Ole Miss spent months waiting for his return. The stadium was rocking, emotions were through the roof and the Rebels played like everything was on the line. They got their revenge, celebrated one of the biggest wins of the season — and then immediately got punched in the mouth the following week.

Pete Golding pushed back on the “Super Bowl” idea after beating LSU, saying Ole Miss had much bigger goals than winning one game in September.

But after what happened in Gainesville, Kiffin’s comment suddenly looks a lot more interesting.
