We’re in Day 10 of the heightened frenzy over Lane Kiffin’s job decision among Ole Miss football, LSU and Florida.
The No. 6 Rebels (10-1, 6-1 SEC) play in the Egg Bowl at Mississippi State (5-6, 1-6) on Nov. 28 (11 a.m. ABC).
Ole Miss is in position to make the College Football Playoff for the first time.
Kiffin’s decision is expected to be announced Nov. 29, the day after the Egg Bowl, according to Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter.
Fans of the Rebels, Tigers and Gators have three more days of waiting.

LSU is the favorite to land Kiffin over Ole Miss and Florida, according to Betonline on Nov. 25.
LSU is -175. Florida is +125. Ole Miss is +600.

Trinidad Chambliss’ message for Ole Miss fans on Lane Kiffin decision
Ole Miss football quarterback Trinidad Chambliss put out a message in the middle of anxious times for Rebels fans.
On Nov. 24, Chambliss posted a statement on X addressed to fans.
“To our fans, this team is completely locked in, living in the moment, and staying true to our 1-0 mindset for the Egg Bowl and future games,” Chambliss said. “We are unbothered by anything about next year and fully trusting Coach Kiffin’s leadership to keep up moving toward our goals.”
What is Egg Bowl weather forecast before Lane Kiffin decision?
The Egg Bowl will be played in a bit colder weather than there has been lately in Mississippi.
According to AccuWeather, the high for the Egg Bowl on Nov. 28 in Starkville will be 54 degrees with a 4% chance of rain.
Can Ole Miss football still make SEC Championship Game?
Yes Ole Miss still can make the SEC Championship Game for the first time.
Ole Miss must beat Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. Then the Rebels need Texas A&M and Alabama to lose rivalry games.
No. 3 Texas A&M (11-0, 7-0) plays at No. 16 Texas (8-3, 5-2) on Nov. 28 (6:30 p.m., ABC). No. 10 Alabama (9-2, 6-1 SEC) plays at Auburn (5-6, 1-6) on Nov. 29 (6:30 p.m., ABC).
Lane Kiffin offer from LSU, Florida, Ole Miss expected to be huge raise
Lane Kiffin’s current salary is $9 million. LSU, Florida and Ole Miss are expected to offer Kiffin in the $13 million to $14 million range, according to On3.
In addition the three schools are also expected to offer at least $25 million for NIL roster investment, according to the report.
What is Lane Kiffin’s contract, salary?
Ole Miss’ win against Oklahoma on Oct. 25 triggered an automatic contract extension for Kiffin.
Because it was Ole Miss‘ seventh regular-season win, Kiffin’s state contract with the Ole Miss Athletic Foundation will be automatically extended one year on Jan. 1, 2026. His contract now runs through Dec. 31, 2031.
The added year will be worth $9 million, with $7.2 million guaranteed.
Kiffin’s $9 million salary is tied for No. 6 in the SEC.
Lane Kiffin buyout
As of Dec. 1, 2025, if Ole Miss fires Kiffin without cause, he would be set to receive $36.6 million.
It is the 15th-most expensive buyout of the 105 programs USA TODAY Sports could review, and No. 7 in the SEC.
