There was one special request for Jenn Milz, the owner of Yoga Culture in Athens, Georgia, when hosting Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss football coaching staff for a private workout on Oct. 18.

They wanted to listen to their custom playlist.

“One of the songs that I thought was really funny and I loved was Britney Spears’ ‘Work,’” Milz said.

Kiffin and the Ole Miss coaches have made a habit out of pregame exercise. The staff has taken hot yoga or hot Pilates classes the morning of road games at Kentucky, Georgia and Oklahoma in 2025.

Why does Lane Kiffin do hot yoga?

Kiffin has been vocal about his off-the-field journey since becoming Ole Miss football’s coach in 2020. He cut out alcohol, took up daily exercise and has transformed his body.

The classes generally focus on movement, flexibility and strength. Doing it in sauna-like conditions heightens the workout. It’s become an important part of the Rebels’ routine on the road.

“I have some routines and some things in life that I’ve made non-negotiable,” Kiffin said. “It doesn’t matter if you are sick or tired or what it is. There’s things in my personal life, or eating, whatever it is, that are non-negotiables. One of them is that. That’s been a couple years now on the road.”

Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss assistant coaches do ‘Inferno Hot Pilates’

Cassie Hamilton owns Sterling Hot Yoga Lexington, which accommodated the coaching staff for a 6:15 a.m. hot Pilates class the morning of Ole Miss’ game against Kentucky that kicked off at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 6.

Hamilton said Kiffin, coaches and staffers worked out for between 45 minutes to an hour in a hot, humid room. It was the standard time for an “Inferno Hot Pilates” class. The coaches arranged for the room to be set for 110 degrees with 60% humidity.

“They picked the highest option that we had, which adds a different layer of intensity to that type of class,” Hamilton said.

Lane Kiffin’s hot yoga skills evaluated

For Hamilton and Milz it was the first time an opposing college football coaching staff had come in for a workout.

Milz, a Georgia fan, didn’t know anything about Kiffin. She got quite a reaction from her son, who is a student at Georgia.

“My son and other people were like, ‘Oh, my God, he’s iconic in the football world and the coaching world. You know, he’s got amazing record.’ He’s this and that. Everyone spoke so highly of him.”

And as for how Kiffin held up?

“He killed it,” Milz said. “He was very focused. I think he’s, you can tell he’s very athletic. He did great.”

Kiffin has spread his enjoyment of the classes to his boss. Or, at least, he’s trying to. Athletic director Keith Carter was one of nearly 20 participants in the workout before the Georgia game.

Milz recalled the room being set to about 103 degrees with 50% humidity. It’s the type of room you walk into and immediately break into a sweat.

“(Carter) went in Georgia for his first time,” Kiffin said. “So now he says he’s not going anymore because we lost to Georgia.”

Hamilton set the lights to blue and red in the studio for the class. She wanted her guests to feel welcome, even though she was rooting for Kentucky. Ole Miss later won 30-23.

“I really respect the camaraderie that they had with their staff, everybody coming in together and doing that, and I think that speaks a lot to the culture that they have as a staff,” Hamilton said.

Kiffin usually ends his workout with a photo. He asked to take one with the Sterling Hot Yoga Lexington staff to send to Kentucky coach Mark Stoops.

“It’s actually pretty neat,” Kiffin said. “To get up that early in some other town and get a different studio and different teachers. A lot of our staff goes. It’s a pretty good way to start the day and get your mind right.”

No. 7 Ole Miss (8-1) hosts The Citadel (4-5) on Nov. 8 (noon CT, SEC Network+).

Ole Miss has one more road game on Nov. 28 against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.
