FINDLAY — His nickname is Joey Football for a reason.
Lexington senior Joe Caudill doesn’t care if it is on offense or defense, he is going to play 100% every single snap. That effort has been rewarded during the postseason honors portion of the 2025 football season. After earning Ohio Cardinal Conference Defensive Player of the Year (along with first team) honors, Caudill was named the Division III Northwest District Offensive Player of the Year by a panel of voters from the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association.
Caudill ran for 671 yards on 126 attempts with eight touchdowns while completing 112-of-189 passes for 1,730 yards and 25 TDs to just six interceptions. He led the Minutemen to a 9-2 overall record and the outright OCC championship. Defensively, he had 59.5 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions for a stat line that would have been good enough for defensive player of the year honors, too.
He picked up first team All-NW District as a quarterback and joined senior wide receiver Brayden Fogle, senior offensive lineman Kade Wahl, senior linebacker Cole Eichorn and senior defensive back Seven Allen as first team honorees from Lexington.
Fogle caught 26 passes for 474 yards and eight touchdowns while also running for 66 yards and a score and adding 20 tackles, a sack and two interceptions with two defensive TDs.
Wahl paved the way for the Minutemen to pile up 2,127 rushing yards and 1,737 passing yards for the season anchoring a much-improved offensive line from a year ago.
Eichorn led the Minutemen in tackles with 61 while adding three sacks, 10 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and an interception while also having 159 rushing yards and a TD on the offensive side of the ball.
Allen had a stellar senior year with 25 tackles, a tackle for loss and a team-high five interceptions. On offense, he had 320 rushing yards with seven touchdowns, 741 receiving yards with seven touchdowns and a defensive TD for 15 total scores.
Lexington coach Andrew Saris was named the Division III Northwest District Coach of the Year after leading the Minutemen to their first outright OCC championship since 2008 and first since sharing the title with Ashland in 2016. The Minutemen went 9-2 giving them the most wins in a single season since 2008 and Saris a 24-21 overall record after his fourth season at Lexington.
Junior offensive lineman Andrew Badnell, senior running back Markale Martin, senior kicker Cohen Lautzenhiser, senior defensive lineman Luke Triska, senior linebacker Cohen Boozer and senior defensive back Avery Crawford were all second team All-Northwest District honorees while Dantrell Hughes, Graham Clark, Nate Taylor, Daniel Hudson, Wyatt Cornell and Cooper Clark were honorable mentions for the Minutemen.
Ontario junior Gavin Miller earned first team All-Northwest District honors as an athlete for his stellar all-around play. He completed 33-of-54 passes for 541 yards and five touchdowns while running for 317 yards and six scores on 63 carries and recording 53 tackles and five tackles for loss on defense.
Senior offensive lineman Dale Morris, sophomore kicker Kooper Kilgore, senior defensive lineman Trenton Maglott and senior Guy Trader joined Miller as first team selections for the Warriors.
Morris paved the way for the Warriors to run for 1,829 yards and throw for 1,276. Maglott had 61 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five sacks and three forced fumbles and Trader had 49 tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles, a safety, 21 catches for 223 yards and two touchdowns, two punt returns and one kickoff return for scores.
Kilgore, an All-Ohio kicker last season, nailed 29-of-31 extra-point attempts and five field goals with a long of 45 yards. He also ran for 886 yards on 124 carries with eight touchdowns at running back to go with five catches for 98 yards and a TD.
Sophomore linebackers Carson Moritz and Zane Curry were second teamers while Alex McWorther, Brady Rowe, Max Ciroli, Cardae Brown and Maddix Smith were honorable mentions.
The Madison Rams saw senior offensive lineman Jaxin Stancomb, senior running back Kaleb Gordon, junior linebacker Aiden Proctor and senior defensive back Colton Adkins take second team honors while Camden Moysi, Andrew Parish and Hudson Stacy were honorable mentions.
Mansfield Senior’s senior tight end DJ Corbin was a second team honoree while Kevin McDowell, Jace Young, Percy Long, Xavier Taylor, Ryan Au and Tai Pickett were honorable mentions.
