Penn State was hoping to be in a much better situation in the national picture by the time mid-November came around. Instead, the Nittany Lions are now fighting for their postseason lives as they take on Michigan State in East Lansing, Michigan on Saturdya afternoon. Penn State and Michigan State are each in need of a win just to keep bowl eligibility hopes alive for another week as the regular season begins to wind down for each. A loss will eliminate either team from reaching the minimum number of wins required to play in a bowl game. This is such a sad state of affairs for this year's battle for the Land-Grant Trophy.

Penn State is coming off a heartbreaking loss in an upset bid against No. 2 Indiana and has now lost six consecutive games. But hopes are high for Penn State this week as the Nittany Lions feel a bit more confident on the defensive side of the football and are seeing continued growth at the quarterback position. Penn State is also favored this week against a struggling Michigan State program.
