With the recruiting season in full swing, the Texas Longhorns are looking to add to their 2027 class. One player they have their eyes on is Jernard Albright. While the three-star recruit is committed to South Carolina, he hasn’t closed the door on talking to other schools. He has committed to an unofficial visit with the Longhorns on April 18th.

Currently, the Georgia native is ranked as the 29th-best safety in his class by 247Sports. They also rank Albright as the 39th-best player from the Peach State and the 181st-best player in the nation. That has caught the attention of scouts nationwide.

During the recruiting process, the Effingham County High School star has been a popular target. He has also received offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, and Ole Miss. While he committed to the Gamecocks on Christmas Day, the idea of being a Longhorn has piqued his interest.

As a junior, Albright burst onto the scene, helping Effingham reach Georgia’s AAAAA playoffs. While playing a key role on defense, the talented safety recorded 50 tackles and 2 interceptions. He also added two pass deflections to his resume in nine games.

Although flipping Albright will be no easy task, the Longhorns 2027 class is already drawing high praise. They are currently ranked seventh in the nation by 247Sports, with plenty of holes to fill. Their only commitments on defense are Cameron Hall, Cade Haug, and Karnell James. Adding Albright to the mix would give the Longhorns secondary a boost.

While Albright's visit is only a few weeks away, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have plenty of time to craft a pitch their newest target won't be able to refuse.
