Longtime Wisconsin Football Coach Henry Mason Dead at 70

A longtime Wisconsin Badgers football coach has died this weekend. He was just 70 years old.

Henry Mason, a longtime assistant coach at Wisconsin for nearly 30 years, has passed away. He reportedly died over the weekend. Wisconsin shared the news of his passing online.

"We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Henry Mason. He was a staple of our program for nearly 30 years, as an assistant coach and liaison to NFL teams and high school coaches. A friend and mentor to so many, we’re grateful for our time with him and our thoughts are with his family," they announced.

Mason worked as Wisconsin’s wide receivers coach from 1995-2007, before suffering an injury that sidelined his coaching career. He then served as a member of Wisconsin's player support staff for 11 seasons.

The ex-Wisconsin coach also worked on the Diversity Integration Group in UW Athletics and worked in liaison with the WIAA, AFCA, W Club and UW Foundation at the school.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family members during this difficult time.

May he rest in peace.
