Louisiana football bowl game projections after Cajuns reach 6 wins

Six wins.

The number six has been the magic number for Louisiana football in the second half of the 2025 college football season, as they spent that portion of the season striving for it.

On Nov. 29, the Ragin’ Cajuns prayers were answered as they scratched and clawed their way to a 30-27 overtime victory over rival Louisiana-Monroe for their sixth win of the season. With that victory comes bowl eligibility, marking the ninth season overall and fourth season under Michael Desormeaux that the Cajuns will go bowling.

Weeks ago, this coveted sixth win was just a goal, something that kept the injury-riddled Cajuns driven despite the season not going as expected. Now that their goal has been accomplished, Desormeaux and the Cajuns await Selection Sunday on Dec. 7 to find out where postseason play will take them.

In the meantime, here are where experts are projecting the Cajuns will land at the end of the regular season.

Louisiana football bowl predictions at Week 15

Boca Raton Bowl

Out of all the latest projections, the most frequent bowl game pick for the Cajuns has them heading to the Sunshine State, competing in the Boca Raton Bowl. ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura, CBS’s Brad Crawford, On3 Sports and ProFootball Network all have the Cajuns making a first-time appearance in Boca Raton, with the most common opponent being Florida International.

If not the Panthers, one expert has the Cajuns facing a cross-state rival in Louisiana Tech. The last time the Bulldogs and the Cajuns faced off was back in 2015, with Tech winning 43-14.

No matter the opponent, the Cajuns will have to be ready for a road trip with bowl game set to kick off at 2 p.m. ET on Dec. 23 at the Flagler Credit Union Stadium.

Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl

The second most common bowl game projection for the Cajuns is a more local game in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, which is set for 1 p.m. CT on Dec. 30 at the Independence Stadium in Shreveport. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and College Football News’ Pete Fiutak are projecting UL will make their second appearance in the Independence Bowl.

The Cajuns first appearance was back in 2022 where they faced the University of Houston, losing 23-16. This go-round, experts are projecting a Mountain West Conference and a Conference USA opponent.

Projected opponents

IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl

Only one expert has the Cajuns heading further south to play in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl game for the first time ever. Athlon Sports’ Steven Lassan has the Cajuns traveling to Montgomery, AL, for the Veterans Bowl, which is set for 8 p.m. CT on Dec. 16 at the Cramton Bowl. The projected opponent is Jackson State.
