Clemsonfootball is preparing for an LSU team that is still making major roster changes less than two weeks before the season opener.

The latest addition is former Ole Miss defensive lineman Zxavian Harris, who committed to Lane Kiffin’s program after spending part of the summer with the New Orleans Saints.

Harris went undrafted before signing with New Orleans, but was released early in training camp. Now, the 6-foot-8, 335-pound lineman could return to college football after being one of 16 players granted another season of eligibility by a Louisiana court.

He started all 15 games for Ole Miss last season, recording 58 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, four passes defended, an interception and a blocked kick.

Kiffin said Monday that LSU plans to recruit players who became available because of the recent court rulings.

“At the end of the day, because of these rulings, they’re either going to play for you or they’re going to play somewhere else around the country. We made a decision to recruit them, like probably most people are.”

The reunion between Harris and Kiffin comes with an interesting backstory.

Harris openly criticized Kiffin after he left Ole Miss for LSU during the Rebels’ College Football Playoff run, calling the decision a “slap in the face.”

“We got something for him,” Harris said at the time. “He was just trying to steal our shine. That’s all he tried to do. That’s all he’s been trying to do.”

LSU has also added former Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright, who spent time with both the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns this offseason. Wright is another member of the group granted additional eligibility.

There is still no guarantee either player will be available against Clemson.

SEC rules prohibit athletes from transferring between conference schools outside the designated portal window, and commissioner Greg Sankey recently reminded programs of that policy.

For now, Dabo Swinney and Clemson will have to prepare for the possibility that LSU could have even more experienced talent available when the two teams meet to open the season.
