LSU finalizes 2026 roster, will not add former NFL players

LSU has officially abandoned efforts to add two former NFL players to its 2026 roster.

Former Ole Miss players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris were cleared by a Louisiana judge last week to join the Tigers, but they were left off the team's roster ahead of the season opener against Clemson. Now, the Tigers have added two more players to the roster, officially reaching the 105-player limit and ending any chance of Wright and Harris joining.

ESPN's Pete Thamel first reported the news Tuesday night.

Those two players are defensive end Gabriel Reliford and defensive back Aidan Anding, third- and second-year players, respectively, who both suffered season-ending injuries in the spring and were thus left off the Week 1 roster.

The decision came the same day the SEC amended its filing in a federal lawsuit against LSU. The league is now seeking a temporary restraining order allowing it to pursue sanctioning or even removing LSU from the conference.

The SEC is set to hold a meeting on Thursday in which it will discuss expelling the Tigers.

For Wright and Harris, the future is unclear. Their attorney told ESPN that they are considering their legal options, and it remains to be seen if they will be permitted to transfer to a different school.
