The LSU football team whipped Clemson on Saturday night, making a powerful statement to start the Lane Kiffin era. Kiffin’s LSU team rolled up 51 total points. He was shocked to see his team have that kind of success.
“Lane Kiffin calls Clemson’s offense “dysfunctional” after LSU’s drubbing in Tiger Stadium,” Yahoo Sports Ross Dellenger posted to X, formerly Twitter.
The LSU Tigers have made a lot of waves this offseason, for their recruiting practices. The team is bringing in two former NFL players to their roster. Despite all of that distraction, LSU showed no signs that they were bothered by it.

“That’s what LSU’s supposed to be,” Kiffin said, per The Athletic.
The SEC Tigers defeated the ACC’s Clemson Tigers, 51-10.
LSU football looks impressive under Lane Kiffin
LSU has welcomed Kiffin, who left Ole Miss before last season’s College Football Playoff. That was also a controversial move for the head coach, who was cheered by LSU fans before Saturday’s game. Kiffin loved every minute of it.
“I felt like I was back at Mardi Gras,” Kiffin said.
LSU put on a beatdown against Clemson Saturday. Clemson managed just 40 yards of rushing offense, while also posting the largest margin of defeat in Clemson coach Dabo Swinney’s career.
“We’ve got a long way to go,” Swinney said postgame, per ESPN. “We’re going to get better. I know this is not the start anybody wanted and certainly the way the score went, but they’re a really good football team and we’re a lot better than what we played.”
Swinney held nothing back when describing his team’s performance.
“We didn’t do football stuff well enough,” Swinney said. “I’m not sitting around judging other people on what their resources are or what they can do. It is what it is. It’s our job to be the best we can be and we were not that tonight with what we have. It’s my job to get us better.”
LSU next plays Louisiana Tech, on September 12.
