LSU football officially signed the top-ranked recruit in the country. On the final day of the Early Signing Period, Lamar Brown put pen to paper and became a Tiger.

Per the Rivals Industry Rankings, Brown is the No. 1-overall recruit in America. He’s listed as an athlete after excelling as an offensive and defensive lineman in high school, but he’s expected to play defense at the next level.

Brown committed to LSU in July, picking the Tigers over Texas A&M and Texas. He’s a Baton Rouge native and plays at University Lab High School, right on LSU’s campus. Brown is an uber-talented prospect right in LSU’s backyard — LSU couldn’t afford to lose him. Brown attended every LSU home game in 2025 and remained committed after Brian Kelly’s firing.

New LSU head coach Lane Kiffin met with Brown shortly after arriving at LSU on Sunday.

There were questions if Brown would wait until February to sign, given the uncertainty around LSU’s defensive staff. LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker is exploring head coaching opportunities and defensive line coach Kyle Williams likely won’t return. Running backs coach Frank Wilson played a role in Brown’s recruitment — his status is up in the air, too.

But Kiffin and staff did what needed to be done to get LSU’s top-ranked recruit across the finish line.

With Brown aboard, LSU has the best defensive tackle duo in the nation signed. Earlier this week, LSU signed five-star defensive tackle Richard Anderson.
