LSU football remains the favorite to flip 2027 wide receiver Easton Royal. Rivals' Sam Spiegelman logged an expert prediction on Thursday for the Tigers to land the five-star prospect. Royal is currently committed to Texas.

Royal announced his intentions to play for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns on November 25. Since then, LSU fired Brian Kelly, brought in Lane Kiffin and built an NIL war chest to rebuild the current roster with additions from the transfer portal and make strides on the high school recruiting trail.

Since Kiffin's arrival in Baton Rouge, he made Royal a priority. He visited the pass catcher at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans multiple times and hosted him on campus at least three times. Time is winding down until the staff finds out if its work will pay off.

Rivals' Industry Rankings ranks Royal as the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. A New Orleans native, he is Louisiana's top prospect and the top wide receiver. Should he flip his decision, he would be the second five-star commitment and seventh in-state commitment.

LSU doesn't want to see a pass catcher of Royal's caliber leave the state, especially given LSU's usual success with Louisiana wide receivers. We've seen LSU pull off major flips in Louisiana before — the Tigers hope to do it again here.
