The LSU football program is just a few days away from kicking off its 2026 college football season with a home game against the Clemson Tigers. The game will mark head coach Lane Kiffin’s first game in Baton Rouge after joining the Tigers in controversial fashion last season, abandoning ship ahead of the Ole Miss Rebels’ playoff run.
Recently, college football insider Greg McElroy stopped by ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show and broke down why he thinks this game against Clemson won’t be a walk in the park for Kiffin and company.
“There’s no pressure on Clemson going into this game on Saturday.. They still have dudes and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a game in the 3rd quarter.. I think this is a very dangerous game for LSU,” he said, per Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.

The Clemson football program has fallen off sharply over the last few years under head coach Dabo Swinney after reaching a mini-dynasty in the late 2010s, but they still have legit NFL-level talent up and down their roster, and could certainly make things dicey for LSU if they aren’t careful.
Of course, the LSU program isn’t necessarily expected to be a championship contender in Kiffin’s first year at the helm, but after defeating Clemson last year at home, it would certainly be a disappointment if the Tigers were to turn around and lose to them at home in Kiffin’s Tiger Stadium debut.
In any case, Clemson and LSU are slated to kick off on Saturday at 7:30 pm ET in what is sure to be a raucous environment in Baton Rouge.
