LSU football news: Ole Miss fans tear into Lane Kiffin as he arrives at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium

Kiffin is newly vilified in Oxford. Ole Miss fans haven’t forgotten the coach who left them for a historic SEC rival. Plus bolting during the Rebels’ pursuit of a College Football Playoff appearance. Kiffin first accepted the $90 million offer before Dec. 2025.

Ole Miss immediately turned to Pete Golding to lead the team post Kiffin. And the Rebels proved to be just fine without Kiffin, beating Tulane and SEC rival Georgia in the 12-team postseason. The Miami Hurricanes ended Ole Miss’s bid for a National Championship Game appearance during the semifinals round.

So now Kiffin finally makes his reappearance in Oxford for the first time since his departure. LSU jumped to a 2-0 start under Kiffin with routs against Clemson and Louisiana Tech. But Ole Miss is also ranked inside the top 10 with its own 2-0 mark.

Saturday’s game already drew out some legends. Ole Miss icon and former Rebels quarterback Eli Manning narrated a hype video ahead of the matchup. Even Mississippi native and famed actor Morgan Freeman showed up dressed in Rebels attire for his College GameDay appearance. Freeman also overheard the boo birds for the former Rebels head coach Kiffin.
