On3 Sports has reported that former LSU football running back Kaleb Jackson has committed to play for North Carolina in the 2026 season. Jackson spent three seasons in Baton Rouge, recording 463 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns over that period.
Jackson signed with LSU as the No. 189 overall recruit in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. On3 gave him a three-star rating in this portal class, ranked 81st among available running backs.
Jackson was one of the first LSU players to hit the transfer portal, entering shortly after it was announced that LSU would hire its new head coach, Lane Kiffin. Jackson was one of four Tiger running backs to hit the portal, joining Ju’Juan Johnson, JT Lindsey, and Caden Durham. Durham has since withdrawn and will return to LSU for the 2026 season.
Kiffin and his staff have done an excellent job of reloading the depth in the running back room, signing the following players: Dillin Jones (Wisconsin), Raycine Guillory (Utah), Rod Gainey Jr. (Charlotte), and Stacy Gage (UCF).
Harlem Berry and Durham are expected to lead the room, but given the physical nature of the position, filling the position out with loads of depth certainly can’t hurt.
