LSU football will return a key piece of the defense in 2026. The Tigers announced the return of defensive tackle Dominick McKinley, who continued to emerge as a contributor on the defensive line in 2025.

Earlier this year, Dominick's younger brother, Darryus, flipped from LSU to Ohio State ahead of signing day. Given the coaching uncertainty around LSU, combined with Darryus flipping to Ohio State, there were some fears among fans that McKinley could hit the transfer portal. Those fears can now be put to rest.

McKinley is set to be a featured part of LSU's defense in 2026. In 2025, McKinley played 370 defensive snaps. He registered eight pressures, a sack, eight tackles, and seven stops. Stats don't tell the full story, though. McKinley stands at 6-foot-6 and is over 300 pounds. He's a cog up front, taking on double teams and opening up space for LSU's second-level defenders.

McKinley signed with LSU as a five-star recruit in 2025. The Louisiana native was one of the best prospects in the country and is one of the most talented players on LSU's roster. Securing McKinley's return is a massive get for LSU head coach Lane Kiffin and defensive coordinator Blake Baker.
