There's been a change of course for one of LSU's football transfer portal entries. Shortly after offensive tackle Weston Davis entered the portal, he withdrew his name and opted to remain with the Tigers. Davis's decision to return to LSU was confirmed by ESPN's Max Olson.

The return of Davis is welcome for LSU, given the losses across the offensive line. Practically every offensive lineman who started a game for LSU in 2025 entered the portal. Along with the portal exits, starting guard Josh Thompson is off to the NFL. LSU is hoping to retain center Braelin Moore, who is draft eligible.

Davis made 10 starts for LSU in 2025 — but there were plenty of struggles for the year-one starter. Davis allowed 30 pressures and only five SEC offensive linemen posted a lower PFF offensive grade.

However, Davis made progress down the stretch. According to PFF, Davis was the top-graded pass blocker in the entire sport over LSU's final three games of the season.

Davis was a five-star recruit in 2024 and Lane Kiffin and staff will hope Davis continues to show the progress he showed near the end of 2025. Davis will have a prime chance to compete for a starting job in 2026.
