Former LSU football safety Jardin Gilbert settled on his next school. Per a report from On3's Pete Nakos on Monday, Gilbert committed to Mississippi State. It will be his third SEC school.
2026 will be Gilbert's sixth season of college football. As part of the 2022 signing class, he spent three years at Texas A&M before making the move to LSU. He began 2025 as a starter before losing the role to AJ Haulcy. Brian Kelly announced in October that the team would protect Gilbert's redshirt, making it likely he would enter the portal.
During his first season with the Tigers, Gilbert played 615 snaps, which was the sixth-most on the defense. In 2025, he started his three games and totaled 114 snaps, playing in the first three and final two contests.
