LSU football transfer wins SEC award after incredible Tiger Stadium debut

The LSU football defense suffocated Clemson on Saturday during a 51-10 win. One of the leaders of the unit was edge rusher Jordan Ross, who earned the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week award.

Ross made his presence known early, returning an interception 30 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. He followed it up with a tackle for a four yard loss on the following possession. The junior finished the game with four tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack for 11 yards and a quarterback hurry.

Defensive coordinator Blake Baker's unit limited Clemson to 145 yards and eight first downs. Clemson ran just six plays in LSU territory. Jordan Ross and the LSU defensive line generated consistent pressure all night, finishing with 11 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries and four sacks.

The weekly honor is Ross' first from the SEC. He played two seasons at Tennessee before heading to Baton Rouge. Through 22 appearances with the Volunteers, Ross totaled 26 tackles, including five for loss and 1.5 sacks.
