LSU football quarterback Sam Leavitt was upgraded to questionable for LSU's Week 3 game vs. Ole Miss on Thursday. On the initial Wednesday injury report, Leavitt was listed as doubtful, raising questions about his availability in the massive top-10 showdown.

Thursday's injury report indicates Leavitt is moving in the right direction. According to Matt Moscona, Leavitt was dealing with back spasms earlier in the week, but he participated in LSU's Thursday walk-through.

Leavitt would be a significant loss for Lane Kiffin and the Tigers if he can't suit up on Saturday. LSU has a competent backup in Landen Clark, but Leavitt is a veteran QB familiar with the big moments. If Clark gets the nod, he'd be making his first FBS start on the road in what will be the most hostile environment LSU sees all year.

This game marks Kiffin's return to Oxford after Kiffin served as Ole Miss' head coach from 2020-25. Given the intrigue, ESPN's College GameDay is headed to town, and the game is slotted for ABC's primetime slot.

Through two games, Leavitt has been dynamic for the Tigers' offense. There have been a few inconsistencies, as Leavitt has thrown four interceptions, but the good outweighs the bad. Leavitt has thrown for 574 yards and totaled seven touchdowns.
