BATON ROUGE – LSU football has lost another one of its top pass catchers from this past season.

Senior wide receiver Zavion Thomas announced Friday that he will be entering his name into the 2026 NFL Draft. Thomas revealed his decision via his X page, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

This marks the second wide receiver since season’s end to declare for this April’s NFL Draft as Thomas joins teammate Aaron Anderson, a junior, in the process. Thomas is a senior but has one year of eligibility left as he only played in one game his freshman season at Mississippi State.

Thomas had his best season in 2025, totaling 41 receptions for 488 yards with four touchdowns. He also had 99 rushing yards and a score on the ground.

Why did Zavion Thomas declare for 2026 NFL Draft?

There has been plenty of turnover at LSU since October. Former head coach Brian Kelly was fired midseason and new coach Lane Kiffin was officially hired at the end of November to replace him. Former offensive coordinator Joe Sloan was also let go in October and those are the guys that recruited Thomas to LSU once he entered the transfer portal to leave Mississippi State. Kiffin did not retain LSU receivers coach Cortez Hankton.

Rather than start over with a new offensive staff and position coach, Thomas has opted to move on to the next level.
