When LSU football hired Lane Kiffin as head coach, the Tigers' brass envisioned Kiffin installing his prolific offense in Baton Rouge. Through five games of Kiffin's tenure, the plan is working. With 547.8 yards per game, LSU leads the SEC in total offense.
LSU is the only team in the SEC to average over 500 yards per contest, with Florida in second place at 491.2 yards. LSU is also the only team in the SEC to average over 300 yards passing and 200 yards rushing per game. With 310.2 passing yards per game, only Ole Miss averages more, with 322.5.
Outside of a rough first half at Ole Miss, LSU's offense has consistently put up points. Kiffin had to rebuild the unit through the transfer portal after LSU's struggles on offense in 2025, and so far, the newcomers are paying off. Quarterback Sam Leavitt, running back Dilin Jones, wide receiver Winston Watkins, and left tackle Jordan Seaton have emerged as impact players.
LSU has found ways to keep rolling on offense despite missing tight end Trey'Dez Green against Texas A&M and McNeese. Green is expected to miss October, but has a chance to return vs. Alabama in November.
If LSU's offense continues at this pace, the Tigers will remain in the College Football Playoff conversation.
