LSU football's pursuit of 5-star Zyron Forstall hits a snag as Texas A&M gains momentum

Five-star defensive end Zyron Forstall has been one of LSU football's top recruiting targets since the 2027 class came into focus. Forstall emerged as one of the best football players in New Orleans before transferring to IMG in Florida.

Still, we've seen LSU find success with New Orleans natives before, even when they move.

But the Tigers don't have the momentum with Forstall at the moment. Earlier this week, Rivals' recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong made a prediction that Texas A&M would land the talented pass rusher. Wiltfong wasn't the first reporter to make this prediction. Rivals' Sam Speigelman entered the same prediction last Summer.

We don't know how LSU head coach Lane Kiffin and staff view Forstall. Just because he's high on the recruiting boards doesn't mean he's that high on LSU's board. But if he is, LSU won't go away without a fight. The Tigers have shown their willingness to spend big on desired talent since Kiffin arrived last November. LSU signed the top-ranked transfer portal class and did the work to officially sign five-star high school recruits Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson.

With the transfer portal and 2026 signing day in the rearview, expect LSU to turn its attention to building an elite 2027 high school class.
