LSU has eight players named to 2026 Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team

It may be year 1 for Lane Kiffin in Baton Rouge, but he’s already established a high level of talent at LSU. Whether is be returning stars, transfer portal additions, or even the 2026 freshman class, he has potential studs up and down the roster.

Will it all come together in his first season at the helm? That remains to be seen. He has the ingredients, though, and that became more evident on Wednesday as eight Tigers were selected to the 2026 Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team.

We’ve talked about Trey’Dez Green a lot in the past few weeks as his name continuously pops up on preseason watch lists. Entering his junior year, look for the 6’7 tight end to be a focal point in Kiffin and Weis’s offense.

Barring something going terribly wrong for Jordan Seaton, he is expected to be a 1st round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. As the final piece to the puzzle during the transfer portal, Seaton will fill the all-important role of blindside protection for Sam Leavitt at left tackle.

Princewill Umanmielen ranked #3 in the SEC with 9.0 sacks for Ole Miss in 2025 and brings a much needed pass rush to Blake Baker’s defense. Look for him to also wreak havoc in the backfield against rushing attacks as he finished #8 in the conference with 13.0 tackles for loss. The senior was a Third-Team All-SEC selection in 2025.

Named to the Butkus Award watch list just a few days ago, Whit Weeks will be the quarterback of Baker’s defense for his senior season. He was First-Team All-SEC in 2024 before dealing with injuries throughout 2025, but returned to LSU at full strength and looks to get back to form.

Grant Chadwick is a junior and entering his second season with the Tigers. He was Third-Team All-SEC in 2025 after finishing #3 all-time in LSU Football history with his 45.7 yards per punt average in 2025. He finished #2 in the SEC with that average. While the Tigers will be significantly better on offense than a year ago, Chadwick is a weapon in his own right for when they do have to punt.

Former 5-star stud DJ Pickett comes off of a fantastic first year in which he made the 2025 Freshman All-American and Freshman All-SEC teams. He will now transition to full time starter opposite PJ Woodland after spending his freshman season behind Woodland and Mansoor Delane.

It’s hard to find many LSU transfers with more hype surrounding his name than Ty Benefield. He started 33 games in his first three seasons of college football at Boise State, including a string of 28 straight. He was First-Team All-Mountain West in 2025 and led the Broncos with 107 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and 3 passes defended. Look for Benefield’s name to be mentioned for the Jim Thorpe Award both pre-season and throughout the regular season.

Braelin Moore returns to anchor the rebuilt offensive line at center. He was the one constant in 2025, although he played all but the season opener on an injured ankle. Still, he was good. Expected to be an early day 3 draft pick following this season and already named to the Rimington Award watch list, Moore could stand out even more with what’s expected to be a much better unit.
