Kiffin spent six seasons building Ole Miss into a legitimate national contender before leaving for LSU following an 11-1 regular season last year.
The timing made the departure even crazier.
Ole Miss was headed to the College Football Playoff, but Kiffin accepted the LSU job before the playoff began and wasn’t allowed to continue coaching the Rebels.

His first SEC game as LSU’s head coach is at Ole Miss.

Kiffin is going to walk back into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium coaching one of Ole Miss’ biggest rivals, with an entire fanbase that has probably had this date circled for months.

Of course ESPN wasn’t missing this.
College GameDay will be in Oxford for the matchup, adding another layer to what should already be an insane atmosphere.
Ole Miss hasn’t hosted GameDay since 2021.
Now the show returns for arguably the most emotionally charged home game the Rebels have played in years.
And this isn’t some noon kickoff after GameDay leaves town.

You go 11-1, put together one of the greatest regular seasons in school history and make the College Football Playoff.
Then your head coach leaves for another SEC program.
Less than a year later, he’s walking back into your stadium trying to beat you.

Ole Miss already beat LSU 24-19 last season, and the Rebels have won three of the last five meetings in the series.
Now they get Kiffin back in Oxford.
