Every summer at SEC Media Days, members of the media are asked to rank the 16 teams of the conference in order as well as create their all-conference team predictions.
This year was no different, and similar to last year, there was the same result at the top as the Georgia Bulldogs were listed as the favorite in the gauntlet that is the SEC.
However, some people may have been a little surprised to see that LSU Tigers was ranked fifth in the conference behind Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.
This comes after the Purple and Gold were the highlight of the week in Tampa, being the center of conversation most days and dominating Thursdayâs affairs in the final day of the four-day kickoff extravaganza.
Fans and media alike have placed the expectation of the Bayou Bengals to make the College Football Playoff in Kiffinâs first season, so being ranked fifth puts the Tigers right on the bubble as the conference put five teams in during the 2025-2026 CFP (yes, Oklahoma counts. It was their first year).
Thereâs a lot to be excited about in Baton Rouge with the football season right around the corner and if this team can exceed expectations from the media just ever so slightly, things could get really interesting come November and December.
