LSU quarterback and athlete Ju’Juan Johnson plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos. Johnson has spent the past two seasons with the Tigers.
In two seasons at LSU, Johnson has thrown just one pass. However, he has been used out of the backfield as a runner.
Ju’Juan Johnson has logged 45 carries for 165 yards and two scores. He has also recorded 22 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Though he has produced some for the Tigers, Johnson’s future became a little more uncertain when LSU opted to make a coaching change this offseason. Now, with Lane Kiffin’s arrival as head coach, there’s a new preference for what the program will want in a quarterback.
So Johnson will seek another opportunity elsewhere. He’ll certainly have some interested suitors.
Prior to enrolling at LSU, Ju’Juan Johnson was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 288 overall recruit in the country, according to the On3 Consensus. He was also ranked as the No. 27 cornerback in the class and the No. 9 overall player from the state of Louisiana, hailing from Lafayette (LA) Lafayette Christian Academy.
LSU defensive lineman to enter portal
In addition to Ju’Juan Johnson, LSU defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. The talented former star recruit is on the move once again after thinking the Tigers were going to be the program for him.
Mitchell left the program during the regular season, but he claimed it was not his decision to leave. Instead, it was former Tigers head coach Brian Kelly who forced him out.
“I’m going to be real, I didn’t leave the team, bro,” Mitchell said via TikTok Live. ” … People come to disagreements but it wasn’t no hard feelings… It was his decision. It wasn’t nobody else’s decision. It was BK’s. He felt like the decision wasn’t fair for the team, even though it had nothing to do with the team. That’s how he felt.”
On3’s Steve Samra also contributed to this report.
