LSU Receives More Concerning Injury News Before Texas A&M Matchup

The No. 10 LSU Tigers are hosting the No. 23 Texas A&M Aggies in Baton Rouge this Saturday in a game that could give the loser zero room for error the remainder of the season.
Both teams are coming off of losses in their respective SEC openers, but both rosters are also dealing with some notable injury issues.
The initial injury report was released for LSU and Texas A&M on Wednesday evening, and it appears the Tigers will be facing more potential absences in the secondary. This comes after LSU after lost starting safety Dashawn Spears to a season-ending ACL injury in the loss to Ole Miss.
LSU cornerback Ja'Keem Jackson is listed as doubtful while safety Tamarcus Cooley is questionable for Saturday's game vs. Texas A&M. While Jackson isn't officially out yet, it's trending that way. As for Cooley, LSU fans will be hoping to see his status get upgraded to questionable on either Thursday or Friday. Otherwise, his availability for the game will be very much up in the air.
After losing Spears for the season, the Tigers can't afford to deal with any more injuries in the secondary if they want to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive headed into October.
First Injury Report for LSU vs. Texas A&M
Elsewhere on the injury report, Spears is unsurprisingly listed as out along with wide receiver Phillip Wright III, as both players will miss the remainder of the season.
LSU tight end Trey'Dez Green has also been ruled out after being carted off to the locker room in the fourth quarter, though there's optimism he will return at some point this season after avoiding the need for surgery.
As for Jackson, his "doubtful" tag on the injury report comes only a few days after he had an interception of Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss in the third quarter of last week's loss to the Rebels in Oxford.
Jackson's big play helped spark LSU's furious second-half rally that saw the Tigers tie the game in the fourth quarter after trailing 24-7 at halftime. Cooley also made an impact, finishing with five total tackles and a pass breakup against Ole Miss.
After playing his first two years at Florida, Jackson transferred to LSU last offseason to join the roster under former head coach Brian Kelly.
LSU will need both him and Cooley healthy if the Tigers want to add insult to injury on Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed, who struggled in the Aggies' loss to unranked Kentucky last week.
