LSU Tigers Finish With Three No. 1 Transfer Portal Additions

Expectations were placed on Lane Kiffin as soon as he got on campus with the LSU Tigers. He was going to need to win early and do well in recruiting, since that is the main reason that one would make the switch.
The latter has already been completed, as he put together the best transfer portal class that the school has ever seen and finished off one of the best overall recruiting classes.
He went for star power out of the portal and succeeded. Per the 247Sports portal rankings, they finished with three different players who were the top available players at their respective positions.
They landed the top overall player and top quarterback, and the two top non-quarterbacks. Here are the new Tigers stars, who are going to be counted on to produce immediately:
No.1 QB Sam Leavitt
While Leavitt wasn't actually the first (or second) quarterback that it seems Kiffin and co. wanted, he was the highest-ranked. This is a player who carries NFL expectations and will probably only spend one year at LSU, if all goes to plan.
Tigers fans will want to look back to 2024 to see who Leavitt can really be. He completed 61.7% of his passes for 2,885 yards with 24 touchdowns to six interceptions. He also ran the ball 110 times for 443 yards and five scores (sacked 19 times).
The California native took a step down last year, but had less to work with on offense and was dealing with injuries. He is a perfect fit for the Kiffin offense and should be fun to watch.
No. 1 OT Jordan Seaton
Seaton was the No. 4 overall player in the portal, and the first non-quarterback ranked. He was certainly worth the circus that his recruitment ended up being.
The five-star transfer and former five-star high school recruit has already proven to be a solid offensive tackle and has plenty left to be unlocked. He did not have much help with the Colorado Buffaloes, which made the production he already had impressive.
Per Pro Football Focus, Seaton allowed just seven pressures on the quarterback all of last season.
No. 1 EDGE Princewill Umanmielen
Kiffin actually didn't bring over many players from the Ole Miss Rebels, but the ones he did were good. Umanmielen was one of the best pass rushers in the country last year and will only get better as he works with one of the best defensive staffs around.
He spent two fairly unproductive seasons with the Nebraska Cornhuskers before transferring to the Rebels. Last year, he posted 44 tackles with 13 for a loss and nine sacks. As good as the Tigers' defense was last year, they didn't have one player who really stood out as a pass rusher. This should help them go up another level.
