The LSU Tigers will have a sense of deja vu as they prepare for Bowl Season, as they get the same assignment as last year, the Kinder's Texas Bowl in Houston. They will face the Houston Cougars on December

Not only did the Tigers play in the Texas Bowl last year, a game they won against the Baylor Bears, they have played in in three times since 2015. They are 2-1 all-time, but one of those wins was vacated as a part of the Les Miles punishment.

Ideally, with Lane Kiffin coming to town, this will be the last time that they will be appearing in the Texas Bowl for a while, as they have much higher expectations for the program. Being in this situation, yet again, is a large reason Brian Kelly is no longer the coach and LSU went after a big splash hire.

Before Kiffin takes over, though, Frank Wilson will coach this team through the bowl game. It's a big moment for him as he gets one more game at the helm of the Tigers and a chance to win his first ever bowl.

With how much the players love Wilson, it would be shocking to see a ton of opt-outs before this game. A stark difference to the last time they played in the Texas Bowl with an interim coach, when less than 40 scholarship players suited up to take on the Kansas State Wildcats back in 2022.

The Cougars sit at 9-3 and should be an interesting matchup. They have a solid defense that could prove tough for a struggling LSU offense, but Houston's offense will have a tough time against an elite Tigers defense.
