The LSU Tigers could be on the verge of adding an elite talent to their 2027 recruiting class.

On3’s Sam Spiegelman predicted this week that LSU will win the recruiting battle for 2027 five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson.

Nebraska is viewed as LSU’s top competition for Hudson.

“LSU and Nebraska are sitting on top in this recruitment, which has been a theme for the 5-star prospect, who logged multiple visits back to Baton Rouge this fall and enjoyed a needle-moving visit to Lincoln at the start of November,” wrote Spiegelman.

Hudson, 6-foot-6/230 pounds from Ruston, LA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 tight end in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Louisiana. He’s also rated as the No. 9 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Ahmad Hudson is planning to announce his commitment in the summer

LSU is viewed as the current favorite for Hudson, but it will be a while before Tigers fans learn if the talented tight end will be heading to Baton Rouge.

Hudson isn’t scheduled to announce his commitment until July 4.

Nebraska is a serious threat for Hudson, so it’s not automatic that the five-star recruit will choose to stay home in Louisiana.

Ultimately, though, I’d be surprised if Lane Kiffin and the Tigers don’t find a way to keep Hudson from leaving the state.

LSU currently has just one player committed to its 2027 recruiting class — four-star quarterback Peyton Houston, who has been committed to the Tigers since September.
