The LSU Tigers and Lane Kiffin closed out the early signing period on Friday with a fantastic showing, getting several crucial defensive line recruits to put pen to paper. Their defensive line group in this upcoming recruiting class is among the best the school has ever seen.
Kiffin has now had Richard Anderson, Trenton Henderson, Lamar Brown and Deuce Geralds all sign in the early window. Anderson signed on Thursday, with the other three coming to their decision on Friday.
All players had been committed to the Tigers, but delayed their signing due to changes on the LSU defensive staff. While there hasn't been any official news released, it is believed that the Tigers will lose defensive coordinator and elite recruiter Blake Baker to the Tulane Green Wave. Still, the top recruits will be headed to Baton Rouge.
Geralds is the lowest-ranked player of that group, and he is the No. 65 overall player in America per the 247Sports composite rankings.
That's not to take anything away from Geralds, obviously, who is a fantastic prospect out of Collins Hill high school in Suwanee, Georgia. His father, Daverin Geralds, was a center for the Ole Miss Rebels and was actually recruited by Frank Wilson out of high school. Wilson obviously played a large role in Deuce coming to LSU.
The Rebels had made a late push for Geralds, but the Tigers prevailed. The player has family in Baton Rouge and will be a part of this fantastic group of players over the next couple of years.
Brown was the highest-rated player in this group and is one of the top recruits in the country. He has played both offensive and defensive line in high school.
LSU had to fight off the Texas A&M Aggies for him, but it always felt like he was destined to be a Tiger. He was at every single home game this past season and has been very active on social media in trying to get other players to join him. He attends University Lab, which is right on campus.
Brown is great friends with Anderson, who was the first player of the group to sign. With Brown classified as an athlete, Anderson is the top-ranked defensive lineman in the country.
Known as "Big Rich" for his 6-foot-4, 340-pound frame, the Edna Karr standout has more mobility than one would expect and should be a fantastic run stuffer from the jump.
Henderson is of a different profile than the others, as the lone pure EDGE rusher. The four-star pass rusher out of Pensacola, Florida almost joined the Florida Gators or the Texas Longhorns, but stuck with LSU.
