The LSU Tigers are going to be losing their top wide receiver to the NFL draft this season as Aaron Anderson accepts his invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl and effectively ends his college career.

Anderson was a four-star recruit out of high school and a top-50 national player. He actually ended up with the Alabama Crimson Tide at first, but transferred to the Tigers after he didn't see the field as a freshman.

His first year at LSU wasn't much to write home about, but he broke out as a redshirt sophomore. He had 61 catches for 884 yards and five touchdowns.

It's not every day that 5-foot-8, 188-pound receivers end up as a team's top target, but Anderson became a very reliable option in the slot. He and Garrett Nussmeier had a great rapport.

This past year was not as kind to Anderson, though, which was the case for much of the Tigers' offense. He started off with 18 catches for 247 yards over the first three games, but finished the season with only 33 for 398.

The New Orleans native was dealing with injuries for some of the year and ended up missing the last two games of the year.

Going to the East-West Shrine Bowl will give him the opportunity to prove to coaches and scouts that the injuries are past him and that his lessened production was because of the offense struggling as a whole.

Right now, he projects as a mid-to-late round draft prospect. A solid showing that week and a good combine performance could help raise his stock a bit.
