LSU scored 51 and 45 points in their first two games with Kiffin. LSU only scored more than 35 points once last season and that came against FCS Southeast Louisiana. The Tigers scored 51 on Clemson and 45 on Louisiana Tech. LSU's offense ranks third nationally with 586.0 yards per game and fourth in passing yards per game at 358.0. Turnovers were an issue in the first half for Sam Leavitt against Louisiana Tech. He tossed three interceptions, including two in the red zone, and one ended up as a 100-yard pick-six for the Bulldogs.

Ole Miss will have a battle on its own turf. Of course, nobody outside the program knows this Rebels team better than Lane Kiffin does, so Pete Golding and Trinidad Chambliss will be in for a classic game of chess. The Rebels rolled Charlotte, 41-9 in their previous game behind Chambliss tossing two touchdowns and Kewan Lacy running for another two.

The Tigers have converted 57.6% of its third downs (13th) through two games and has 63 first downs (T-4th). If it wasn't for turnovers and a 79th-ranked red zone offense — LSU would be ranked higher in the AP Poll.

LSU Player to Watch on Offense: QB Sam Leavitt

Sam Leavitt ran for 113 yards and two scores against Clemson, plus three touchdowns on the ground against Louisiana Tech. He's been one of the most dangerous dual threat quarterbacks in the country, but has shown he's turnover prone. Leavitt tossed an interception on the second play of the game versus Clemson and three more in the first half against Louisiana Tech.

The LSU Tigers Defense:

LSU's defense ranks second in the country with 18.5 rushing yards per game allowed and 12th in passing yards allowed (124.0). They also come in tied for second nationally with a .148 third-down percentage. The Tigers have allowed 14 out of 24 points to come in the fourth quarter of their two blowouts, meaning they've allowed 10 points total quarters 1-3.

LSU Player to Watch on Defense: DE Princewill Umanmielen

Through two games, Princewill Umanmielen has five sacks! He racked up two versus Clemson and three more against Louisiana Tech. On the early season, Umanmielen has 11 tackles and six tackles for loss. In 2025, Umanmielen was with Ole Miss and led the Rebels with nine sacks, plus 45 tackles and an interception. He spent 2023 and 2024 with Nebraska where he had 1.5 sacks and 35 tackles.

The Ole Miss Rebels Offense:

The Rebels offense only had four third down attempts in the entire meeting with Charlotte, putting up 25 first downs in 22 minutes of offense. The Rebels posted 420 total yards of offense after putting up 489 yards on Louisville. Trinidad Chambliss has six total touchdowns in tow games and Kewan Lacy has scored three times after a career-year of 24 touchdowns a year ago.

Ole Miss Player to Watch on Offense: QB Trinidad Chambliss

Trinidad Chambliss will have one of the most unique challenges of his collegiate career on his hands when he faces his former head coach. Chambliss wasn't the preseason starter under Kiffin last year, that was Austin Simmons who is now at Missouri. Chambliss turned in a 22-3 passing touchdowns to interception ratio stepping in as a full-time starter. Chambliss is coming off a 23-of-26 performance (88.5%) against Charlotte with two touchdowns. He tossed three scores and ran for another in the season-opener versus Louisville. Chambliss totaled at least two touchdowns in 11 out of 15 starts with Ole Miss and three or more touchdowns in seven of 15.

The Ole Miss Rebels Defense:

The Ole Miss defense was on the field a lot against Charlotte. The 49ers won the time of possession battle 37:14 to 22:46 as the Rebels offense made quick work of the 49ers defense. Nonetheless, the Rebels held Charlotte to 3-of-14 on third downs, 6.4 yards per pass, and 322 total yards. Ole Miss had six tackles for loss, but only one sack and one interception. They will have more opportunities for turnovers hostingLeavitt this weekend.

Ole Miss Player to Watch on Defense: DT Will Echoles

Will Echoles is projected to be a first or second round pick in next year's draft and could play a vital role in shutting down LSU's run game as a 6-foot-3 315 lbs defensive tackle. Echoles only has four tackles on the early season, but recorded 68 tackles, five sacks, and five pass deflections last year with the Rebels, ranking top five in all three areas.
