LSU vs Western Kentucky Prediction: Can the Tiger Offense Finally Work?

LSU finally stopped the slide with a win over Arkansas to become bowl eligible going into the finishing kick. There’s still a shot to have a nine-win season, it can screw up Oklahoma next week, and …

The offense isn’t working.

The defense has been fantastic, but the problems moving the ball ended up ruining the Brian Kelly era. It’s mostly why the team went on a brutal three-game losing streak, and now it has to open up the attack against a dangerous Western Kentucky team.

The Hilltoppers still have work to do in the Conference USA race, closing out the regular season at Jacksonville State. But first, they get a shot to make some noise against the SEC team.

Why Western Kentucky Will Win

Yeah, the problems on the LSU offense are no joke.

The Tigers are completing passes, but they’re not doing enough down the field to overcome a running game that hit the four-yard-per-carry mark just twice so far, but …

Why LSU Will Win

This is Western Kentucky’s first game of the year against a Power Four program.

Yes, the offense is having problems, but the LSU defense has been keeping the team in games.

The front line got it back over the last few games – it was terrific against Alabama – and the secondary has been able to hold up.

Western Kentucky has the passing game and the tempo to be a problem, but it also stalls a bit when things aren’t going right on the ground.

The Hilltoppers usually have to push past four yards per carry for the offense to roll, LSU allows fewer than that per game, and …

Western Kentucky vs LSU Prediction, Betting Lines

The LSU offense will finally start to rumble.

The Hilltoppers have been hit hard by teams that commit against the run, and they haven’t faced anything close to as strong as LSU offensive front, even though it’s not playing at its normally high level.

It might not be beautiful, but the Tigers will take over in the second half with the offense finally looking the part, at least for a little while.
