College football is an absurd sport, and the lack of the triple option makes it even more so… let’s run it.

THIS IS THE KING OF NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL

Without a doubt, Notre Dame football has been on a different trajectory under the rule of Marcus Freeman. We were told certain things about what Notre Dame Football was supposed to be in this new era of college football, and Marcus Freeman has pretty much dismantled that line of thinking to help move the Irish onward.

PRINTING MONEY

Marcus Freeman has gone out of his way to (especially over the last 9 months) to not lay the blame of Irish mishaps or misfortunes at the feet of others. He always talks about accountability, and practices what he preaches. Contrast that to the recent statements by Dabo Swinney, and I’ll show you one coach on his way up and another on the way down. The one that is on the way down — is also full of crap.

Drew Mentock wrote:

“Dabo Swinney complained that Notre Dame prints its “own money.” But excluding NIL payments and revenue sharing, Clemson spent $82,950,764 on football last year, a $15 million YoY increase. The Tigers spent more than Alabama, Texas and Tennessee.“

THE SEC COGNITIVE DISSONANCE OF THE SEC

Despite ALL evidence to the contrary over the last few years, the SEC as a whole is still trying to sell the narrative that they are simply the best. They believe they win things because they are the best, but also lose things because too many of them are the best. Basically… they are the best bullshitters, and it’s hard to take this line of thought remotely serious anymore.

Oh — it gets better. Georgia’s president really believes that an all SEC playoff would really be a top tier event that the country would love. Personally, I blame the current state of US politics as the main culprit behind this trend of just saying anything you want and expecting people to believe it regardless of any amount of truth attached… but let’s not go there.

A CORRECT TAKE

Tyler Wojciak is probably 100% right here. Notre Dame vs Stanford is being forced upon us like an obligation. There was a time where this felt like a legitimate type of rivalry game, but that is far gone now, and this scheduling agreement looks more like a Wookie life debt than something we need.
