The No. 7 Indiana Hoosiers looked in danger of losing to unranked Nebraska, led by fourth-year head coach Matt Rhule. The Cornhuskers led for most of the game, taking a 10-3 lead into halftime and extending it to 17-6 with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
But Curt Cignetti's Hoosiers stormed back in the fourth, scoring two unanswered touchdowns to escape with a 20-17 road victory. The loss, while disappointing to Nebraska fans, marks yet another Top 25 team to beat Rhule. In fact, the head coach has a rough record against ranked teams in general.
Let's have a look at how Rhule's latest Top 25 loss to Indiana compares with others throughout his career.

Matt Rhule's all-time record vs. ranked teams
Rhule, who has been a head coach at Temple, Baylor and Nebraska, now has a 2-25 record against ranked teams with the loss to Indiana.
At Baylor, Rhule failed to beat a Top 25 team in any of his three seasons with the Bears. His most recent win over a ranked opponent came at Temple, when his team beat then-No. 19 Navy in the AAC Championship Game in December. In 2014, his Temple team beat then-No. 21 East Carolina 20-10.

Matt Rhule's contract details
Last season, Rhule signed a new two-year contract extension with the school that extended him through the 2032 season. According to On3 Sports, Rhule is making $8.5 million from Nebraska this season.
The new contract was partially due to his name being linked to the open Penn State job last year, which ended up hiring Iowa State's Matt Campbell. The new deal increased his buyout last season to $15 million from $5 million, which prevented him from taking a new job. Nebraska finished 7-6 last season, the same record he had in 2024.
